The Economic Society of Australian (ACT) Inc. (ESA ACT) is a non-profit organisation that is committed to its objectives which include encouraging the study of economics and its application in Australia, encouraging informed public debate of economic and related questions and conducting seminars, symposia, conferences and other meetings to advance the objectives of ESA ACT.
In meeting these objectives, ESA ACT receives information from and about members and those who register for its events or enter information on ESA ACT’s website. This information may include a person’s business address and telephone number, personal address and telephone number, post office box details, information about professional interests and qualifications, credit card and transactional information, date of birth and other information of a personal nature such as catering preferences.
ESA ACT may use contact information to inform members, former members and those who have registered for events about Society functions and events. You may advise us when you register for an event that you do not wish to be informed about future events. If you ask ESA ACT to cease contacting you we will do so. ESA ACT does not sell mailing lists or contact details to other organisations.
We may make audio and video recordings of our events. Please let us know before you attend an event if you do not wish to be identifiable in recordings which we may make available on our website or in other ways.
ESA ACT is committed to ensuring that the personal information held about you is maintained in a form that is accurate, complete and up to date. Please contact us whenever there is a change to your personal information, or as soon as you become aware that the details we have about you require updating. ESA ACT will then take all reasonable steps to amend the information so that it is accurate and current.
ESA ACT will take all reasonable precautions to protect the privacy of your personal information. We cannot ensure the security of all information that you transmit to us over the internet and you do so at your own risk. However, once we receive your transmission, we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your information is secure on systems controlled by ESA ACT.
If we provide information about you to overseas entities (such as to an overseas company assisting in publishing a journal for ESA ACT’s members) we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the information will be subject to appropriate data protection or privacy laws and to ensure there are contractual obligations which protect information about you.
