ESA (ACT): A Pre-Election Discussion with Tara and Candice
Is this the first time you’ve voted in the ACT Elections? Do you have a vague sense that trees, school lunches, a tram and some sausages are involved, but you’re not sure how? What does it really mean for Canberra if Labor or Liberal get in? And what does it mean for the policies you really care about?
If you’d like to know, come along to Smiths Alternative on Tuesday 13th October for A Pre-Election Discussion with Tara and Candice, featuring the Liberal Member for Kurrajong Candice Burch and Labor Member for Ginninderra Tara Cheyne and hosted by Young Economists and the Economic Society. Tara and Candice will each explain their party’s policies for the upcoming ACT Election, and you’ll get a chance to ask them questions about the policies that are important to you.

Before entering the Assembly, Tara was an EL2 in the public service and was active in her local community, including serving as Secretary of the Belconnen Arts Centre Board and Chair of the Belconnen Community Council. Candice Burch has been privileged to represent the electorate of Kurrajong since 13th December 2017, having lived, worked and studied in the beautiful Inner North and Inner South since 2007. Candice moved to Canberra to follow her dream of studying at the ANU. After completing a Bachelor of Economics/Arts (majoring in Political Science and Development Studies), she joined the Australian Public Service. Most recently, she spent six years at the Department of Finance where she worked on the Federal Budget across a broad range of policy areas. This gave her great insight into the often unintended implications of policy decisions. She passionately believes that government should improve, rather than hinder, your day to day life, and that you - not government - are best placed to make decisions for you and your family. |
