THE ECONOMICS OF DRUG& DRUG POLICY
The Economic Society of Australia (ACT) invites you to a presentation from Michael Pettersson MLA.
Following on from our highly enjoyable Economics of Death (and Funerals) event in April, and before we launch into the Economics of Sex and Rock ‘n’ Roll later in the year, we look forward to discussing the Economics of Drugs (and Drug Policy). We are pleased to have Michael as our guest speaker for an important social policy topic that has been discussed and analysed by economists for over a century.
Michael Pettersson became the member for Yerrabi in 2016. While he has campaigned on a wide range of issues, he is arguably most well known for introducing the Drugs of Dependence (Personal Cannabis Use) Amendment Bill in 2018, which legalised the possession and personal use of small amounts of cannabis in the ACT. In February 2021, Michael introduced another bill aimed at extending decriminalisation to a range of other drugs such as MDMA, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.
