The ESA ACT is pleased to invite you to hear from Damian Dwyer, Director Policy and International Relations, Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA). LETA are investors in technologies critical to reducing carbon emissions from industry and meeting our international climate commitments.
Damian has spent most of his senior career at industry associations and much of that working as an economist of climate change policy. With this deep experience Damian's talk will provide deep insights into the topic of:
"The Lonely Economist: observations on 25 of climate change policy development in Canberra"
Prior to joining LETA, Damian was Deputy Chief Executive with the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA); he was with APPEA from February 2006-January 2023. During his time with APPEA, Damian headed a policy team with key responsibilities including a range of economic and trade issues within the upstream oil and gas industry, including climate change, energy policy, exploration, fiscal and international trade issues.
Damian commenced his career as an economist in the Australian Public Service and positions within various agencies, including the Productivity Commission. He spent seven years at the Minerals Council of Australia, with a focus on tax policy, climate policy and a range of economic policy issues.
The event is to be held at the Commonwealth Club on Monday 24th August, and is an opportunity for you to meet fellow ESA Members and learn more about the economics of carbon emissions policies.
Arrivals from 5.30pm with the talk to begin at 6.00pm. Canapes and drinks to be provided.
