National Accounts - updated economic statistics

Updated economic statistics for the contemporary economy
International standards for the System of National Accounts will be endorsed by the United Nations in 2025. Other standards (such as Balance of Payments and Government Financial Statistics) will follow shortly after. The ABS has started planning for these updates. What are these updates and the key benefits of these changes?
This presentation will cover key changes, what this might mean for Australia’s National Accounts, and the potential benefits for economic policy analysis. The Guest Speakers are Katherine Keenan, Program Manager, Economy and Environment Division, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and Kylia Wall Acting Director, The Economy and Environment Division, ABS.

Katherine Keenan

Katherine has worked in the public and private sector and is passionate about ensuring high quality data is available to enable evidence-based policy and decision making. Since re-joining the ABS in 2016, Katherine has worked across Labour statistics, Finance and Wealth and National Accounts. Katherine is currently the Program Manager for National Accounts. Katherine has degrees in Economics and Statistics, as well as a Masters of Business Administration.
Kylia Wall

Kylia is currently the Director of the National Accounts Transformation section at the ABS. Kylia has extensive experience in Economic Statistics having worked across in most areas of National Accounts over the past 14 years. Kylia has a broad scientific and analytical background having previously worked for Geoscience Australia and holding a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours).
Parking.
After 5.30 parking is free. There is casual parking in Kirinari Street. It is recommend to park in P9C car park. from here walk straight down the pathway from the car park and into Building 1 Reception towards the Refectory.
Finding the Clive Price Room
Enter Building 1 Reception, walk straight down the corridor. This is Level C. When you reach the gallery area that overlooks the refectory below, walk around to your right and the Clive Price Suite is located just before the stairs on the far side of the gallery.
