Professor Robert Breunig
 
Professor Breunig will moderate the session. He is the President of the Economic Society of Australia and the Director of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at the Crawford School of Public Policy. Prof Breunig’s research is motivated by important social policy issues and debates, informed by empirical study and statistical technique. His recent paper measures the impact of the transfer side of the tax system on growing wealth inequality.
Professor Frank Jotzo
Professor Jotzo is an expert on environmental and climate change economics at the ANU Centre for Climate and Energy Policy. Professor Jotzo has advised national and state governments in Australia, most recently leading the Australian government’s Carbon Leakage Review. 
Associate Professor
Maria Racionero
Maria Racionero is an Associate Professor of Economics. Her main field of research is public economic theory, with particular interest in education policies, as well as higher education finance and labour economics.
 
Assistant Secretary
Adam Hawkins
Adam Hawkins is the Assistant Secretary for the Budget Policy Branch for the Department of Treasury. Among other budget preparations, Hawkins will lead producing the Intergenerational Report 2026. These reports project outlooks for the economy and the Australian Government’s budget over the next 40 years. They examine the long-term sustainability of current policies and how demographic, technological and other structural trends may affect the economy and the budget.
