The Economic Society of Australia (ESA) ACT invites you to a presentation from Dr Suiwah Leung. This event is the inaugural Professional Members event.
This event will also include an information session about the Professional Members group and include drinks and a light meal. (ESA MEMBER ONLY EVENT)Dr Suiwah Leung is an early practitioner of international education in Australia. Together with the late Professor Helen Hughes at the ANU\, Dr Leung developed the Masters/PhD program in the economics of development of which she was the program director throughout the 1990s in the then National Centre for Development Studies (NCDS &ndash\; the predecessor to the Crawford School of Public Policy). Subsequently\, she was director of education 2004-2008 in the Crawford School. For a period of time\, she was on the vice chancellor advisory committee on international education. As program director\, Dr Leung and her team received an award from the Australian government for services to international students. More recently\, she was awarded a medal by the President of Vietnam for her contribution to the study of the Vietnam economy and the education of Vietnamese students
