Productivity Commission Summer Internership Program

Have you heard about the Productivity Commission's Paid Internship Program? Running from 4 January to 12 February 2027, the program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on paid work experience solving real-world policy problems.
The Productivity Commission is currently seeking applications from students who are studying economics or other fields relevant to public policy who will have completed at least 2 years of their degree by the end of 2026.
Applications close on 9 August 2026

Where are the streets of gold? Intergenerational mobility of immigrants across destination countries.
This talk will introduce patterns for intergenerational mobility of the children of immigrants across fifteen destination countries. In most destinations, the daughters of immigrants experience higher mobility than daughters of locals. Sons of immigrants enjoy an advantage in Anglosphere destinations (including Australia) but not in continental Europe.

Children’s incomes tend to resemble their parents', a relationship that is particularly pronounced in higher-inequality societies like the United States. However, the mechanisms behind this intergenerational earnings transmission are not well understood. We use a new data resource to study intergenerational economic transmission in the U.S., focusing on two potentially important factors: neighborhoods and firms.
